Divine Wisdom and Truth on LGBTQ, Abortion, and a Generation in Moral Decline
A generation can gain rights, technology, influence, and wealth, yet still lose the fear of God. That is the sorrow at the center of many moral debates today. The question is not only what culture approves. The deeper question is what the Lord calls true, holy, merciful, and wise.
To speak “in Spirit and in Truth” is not to speak with rage, mockery, or pride. It is to speak under the authority of God, with reverence for Scripture and compassion for people made in His image. The Christian answer to LGBTQ identity, legalized abortion, wickedness, and folly must hold together two truths that modern arguments often tear apart: God is holy, and God is merciful.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom
Scripture teaches that wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord. This fear is not panic. It is holy reverence. It is the settled knowledge that God is Creator, Judge, Father, and King.
A culture that rejects God’s authority will not become morally neutral. It will build another authority in His place. That authority may be personal desire, public opinion, government power, entertainment, money, or ideology. Once that happens, truth becomes flexible. The body becomes a tool. Children become optional. Sex becomes self-expression detached from covenant. Compassion becomes approval. Freedom becomes slavery to appetite.

He does not change His Word when public pressure rises. He does not bless sin because a court protects it, a celebrity praises it, or a crowd celebrates it.
Yet Scripture also warns religious people against a different danger. It is possible to speak about sin while being full of pride. It is possible to defend truth without love. It is possible to condemn the sins of a generation while ignoring greed, hatred, lust, gossip, cruelty, racial partiality, and prayerlessness.
The Lord sees all of it.
The same God who says “be holy” also says “come to Me.” Truth without mercy crushes. Mercy without truth deceives.
God’s design for the body is sacred
Christian teaching begins with creation. God made humanity in His image. The body is not an accident, a costume, or a prison. Male and female are presented in Scripture as gifts of creation, ordered toward covenant, fruitfulness, family, and worship.
That does not mean every person’s experience is simple. Many carry deep questions about identity, desire, trauma, loneliness, and belonging. Some have been mocked or rejected by people who claimed to represent Christ. That is sin too. No person should be treated as less than human because they identify as LGBTQ. No Christian has permission to bully, threaten, dehumanize, or speak with contempt.
At the same time, compassion does not require surrendering biblical truth. Historic Christian teaching has held that sexual intimacy belongs within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. That teaching is not rooted in hatred. It is rooted in Scripture’s vision of creation, covenant, and holiness.
The Lord’s wisdom calls every person to submit desire to His will. That includes the heterosexual person tempted toward adultery or pornography. It includes the single person tempted toward sexual compromise. It includes the married person tempted toward selfishness. It includes the person experiencing same-sex attraction or gender distress. The call of Christ is not aimed at one category of people. It reaches every heart.
The gospel does not say, “Express yourself at any cost.” It says, “Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Christ.”
That word is hard in every generation.
Legal approval does not make abortion righteous
Legalized abortion reveals another deep wound in modern culture: the belief that human life can be weighed against convenience, fear, economics, shame, or personal autonomy.
Christian teaching has long treated unborn life as sacred because every human being bears the image of God. The unborn child is not a disposable object. The child is a neighbor in the womb. The child is small, hidden, dependent, and voiceless, but still known by God.
That truth must be spoken clearly.
At the same time, truth must be spoken with tenderness toward women and families facing crisis pregnancies. Some are pressured by partners. Some are frightened by poverty. Some are abandoned. Some are young. Some are told abortion is their only rational option. Some carry grief for decisions already made.
The church must never speak about abortion as if only one person is involved or as if condemnation alone is faithful witness. A truly Christian response includes:
Defending unborn life
Supporting pregnant women
Helping fathers become responsible
Caring for children after birth
Walking with those who grieve abortion
Offering repentance, healing, and forgiveness in Christ
If a society permits abortion by law, the law may shield the act from punishment, but it cannot make it holy. Human law can be unjust. Human law can be blind. Human law can call evil good and good evil.
The Lord is not confused.
Legal protection may change public policy, but it does not change the moral weight of shedding innocent blood. A nation that treats unborn life as disposable should tremble, not boast.
Wickedness is more than one public issue
When people speak of moral decline, they often focus on visible sins. Sexual confusion and abortion are serious. They matter. Yet Scripture gives a wider picture of wickedness.
Wickedness includes lies, exploitation, pride, violence, envy, greed, oppression of the poor, corrupt courts, false worship, and hatred of neighbor. Folly is not merely a lack of education. Many highly educated people live foolishly. Folly is life arranged without God.
A foolish generation says:
My body belongs only to me
My desires define me
My truth cannot be questioned
My comfort outranks another person’s life
My feelings are the highest authority
My freedom has no moral boundary
A wise generation says:
My body belongs to the Lord
My desires must be tested by truth
My conscience needs Scripture
My neighbor’s life matters
My feelings are real, but they are not sovereign
My freedom must bow before holiness
This is why repentance is not merely a private religious feeling. Repentance means turning around. It means naming sin honestly and returning to God with grief, faith, and obedience.
The Lord does not call society to polish its image. He calls people to repent.
Divine truth exposes false compassion
One of the strongest errors of this age is false compassion. False compassion sounds kind, but it refuses to tell the truth. It comforts people in patterns that harm them. It calls affirmation love, even when God calls repentance life.
True compassion does not flatter sin. True compassion also does not despise sinners.
Jesus modeled this perfectly. He welcomed the broken. He ate with sinners. He touched the unclean. He forgave the guilty. He also said, “Go, and sin no more.” His mercy was never moral confusion. His holiness was never cold cruelty.
The church must recover that balance.
When speaking about LGBTQ questions, Christians should reject slurs, mockery, and political cruelty. A person is never a punchline. A person’s struggle is not entertainment. At the same time, Christians should not abandon the biblical teaching on sex, marriage, and the body.
When speaking about abortion, Christians should reject hatred toward women. They should also reject the lie that abortion is a harmless choice. Grace for the guilty and protection for the innocent belong together.
When speaking about wickedness in society, Christians should examine their own households, churches, habits, and hearts. Judgment begins with the house of God. If the church condemns sexual sin while tolerating greed, racism, abuse, pornography, gossip, and spiritual pride, its witness becomes hollow.
God is not seeking a loud church. He is seeking a holy one.
A generation in moral decline still has a door of mercy
The phrase “moral decline” can sound hopeless, but Scripture never presents judgment as the only word. God warns because He is merciful. He exposes sin because He heals. He disciplines because He loves. He calls the dead to life.
Every generation has rebelled in its own way. This generation may have new technologies, new legal structures, and new language for old sins, but the human heart has not changed. People still hide like Adam and Eve. People still envy like Cain. People still build towers of pride like Babel. People still sell truth for comfort.
Yet God still calls.
The answer is not panic. The answer is not hatred. The answer is not nostalgia, as if the past was pure. The answer is repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
A faithful response includes four movements.
Return to Scripture
Feelings, polls, and political platforms cannot replace the Word of God. Christians need more than slogans. They need biblical formation. That means reading Scripture with humility, not using it only as ammunition.
Recover holy fear
A society that laughs at sin will eventually weep over its consequences. The fear of the Lord restores moral seriousness. It teaches the soul to say, “God sees. God speaks. God judges. God saves.”
Practice costly love
Love costs something. It may cost comfort, approval, money, time, reputation, or personal ease. Defending unborn life must include practical care. Speaking truth to LGBTQ neighbors must include patience, hospitality, and humility. Calling out folly must include personal repentance.
Preach Christ clearly
Moral reform without Christ cannot save. Better laws may restrain evil, and they matter, but only the gospel can raise the dead heart. Jesus did not come merely to improve behavior. He came to forgive sin, defeat death, and make people new.
Speaking in Spirit and in Truth
To speak in Spirit and in Truth is to refuse two temptations.
The first temptation is compromise. Compromise changes God’s Word to fit the age. It blesses what God calls sin. It fears being rejected more than it fears the Lord.
The second temptation is cruelty. Cruelty uses truth as a weapon for self-righteousness. It forgets that every saved person was rescued by grace. It speaks of sinners as enemies to defeat rather than souls to reach.
The way of Christ rejects both.
God’s wisdom says the body is sacred. God’s truth says sexual sin is real. God’s mercy says forgiveness is available. God’s justice says unborn life matters. God’s Spirit says repentance is still possible. God’s Son says, “Come to Me.”
This generation does not need religious outrage alone. It needs holy witness. It needs churches that will tell the truth without apology and love people without hypocrisy. It needs parents who disciple their children, pastors who preach the whole counsel of God, and believers who live with clean hands and tender hearts.
The Lord has not lost His voice. The question is whether people still have ears to hear.
The call is clear: turn from sin, receive mercy, walk in holiness, defend life, honor the body, love your neighbor, and bow before the Lord Jesus Christ. That is Divine Wisdom. That is Divine Truth. And it remains the only path from folly to life.
